Drinking tea is something so ordinary, we do it every day, maybe even many times a day. Next time you drink tea make it a real stopping. When you drink, just drink, enjoy the moment and the cup of tea… If you can only do what you do in the moment without thinking about everything else – everything relaxes. And when you really give yourself some minutes break – a good stop, everything feels more fresh when you go back to whatever you where doing. Let your mind wait for you until you are finish drinking. So now, make yourself a big pot of chai – and give yourself many relaxing moments during the day…
This special chai receipe is based on Shakti’s spicy thick chai. It is so filling, it is like a desert…
Shakti loves to make it after Satsang, and a few lucky ones got a taste this summer at Dharma Mountain…
We wish to share with you how she makes this luxurious chai (1 liter):
1/2 liter of water
10 black tea bags (PG tea is best)
1 small bag cinnamon stick
(you get in the supermarked, from “Hindu” or similar, = 3 small sticks)
1 small bag cinnamon
(you get in the supermarked, from “Hindu” or similar, = ca 3 spoons)
5 cloves sprouts
1 tsp cardamom (ground)
25 green cardamom opened and crushed in a mortar
4 thin slices of ginger
1/2 liter of whole milk
1 teaspoon of honey per cup of tea
Mix all the spices and water in a pan, and bring to boil.
Add the tea and milk to finish.
Boil on low heat for at least 10 min.
Squeeze the “juice” from the teabags and let them swell again.
Repeat this a few times.
Strain half of the contents into a new pan – and then heat this half up again.
Add a little extra water and milk and bring this to boil.
Sweeten with honey.
Strain again into the tea-pot or cups.
The other half in the first pan can be re-used to make more, just add water and milk and more spices if needed.
Have fun experimenting with more or less spices and honey – and enjoy!
